Lansdown Art Studios is home to a vibrant collective of more than 20 talented artists, all creators working across a diverse range of practices including painters, glass artists, printmakers, jewellery makers, sculptors and mosaicists.

As Cheltenham’s longest surviving studio space, Lansdown has become a key part of the town’s cultural fabric. We welcome visitors twice a year for special open studio events and also support the wider arts community with workshops and engagement with local teaching establishments.

Join us in congratulating one of our talented artists!

We’re delighted to share the wonderful news that Karen Bendersky has been awarded the Visual Arts Cup 2026 by the Cheltenham Arts Council. The high quality and excellence of her art was accepted by the Trustees of Cheltenham Arts Council as being worthy of this prestigious award.

It is also a proud moment for all of us at Lansdown Art Studios, especially as this marks the second time one of our artists has received the award, following Betty Harrison’s success in 2025.

About Karen

Karen is an accomplished fine artist working in the realist tradition, specialising in portraiture of people and animals. Trained in the techniques of the Old Masters and a graduate of the Schuler School of Fine Arts, she is dedicated to accuracy, craftsmanship, and truthful representation.

Her background as a developmental psychologist brings distinctive emotional and psychological insight to her work, with portraits that sensitively explore themes of struggle, isolation, darkness, and hope. In addition to portraiture, she paints landscapes and still life and is committed to supporting arts education through teaching and sharing her expertise.

STUDIOS

We have various studios to rent on a monthly basis starting from £140 per month (Fully Inclusive). All studios also have an allocated exhibition space and are able to participate in Open Studios events.
