Glenn Lowcock
BA (Hons) in Fine Art-Painting from Central Saint Martins, London
Diploma in Architecture from the Architectural Association, London
Originally from Wharfedale in West Yorkshire, I am now based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
While living in London I was represented by the Mario Flecha Gallery. I exhibited in various group shows in Germany, Belgium, and in London. I had a number of one-person exhibitions including at Mario Flecha Gallery, Brick Lane Gallery and Anna Bornholt Gallery, all in London.
I have worked both as a Cartographic Draughtsman at Ordnance Survey in Southampton, and as an Architectural Designer in a landscape architecture practice in East Sussex. I now focus on art which integrates this broad experience of art and design practice.
I enjoy the ways in which painting and music and architecture converge. There is within them a language of energy and vibration running beneath the surface.
My process follows a sequence where each step is considered and then guided forward within an intuitive grasp of the whole. As though writing a piece of visual music, black and white paper bars are arranged, photographed, digitally adjusted, and then repeated and adjusted again. An orchestration which ends with colour creating a space for its own event.
