Karen is currently a UK based fine artist who trained at the Schuler School of Fine Art in Baltimore, Maryland.
Her main interest is portraiture of people and animals in oils. Incorporating her earlier training as a developmental psychologist, she creates art in the realism tradition that embodies her insights into and reflections on the individual. Themes such as struggle, loneliness, isolation, darkness, depression, anger, and also hope underlie her work.
She has won numerous awards for her paintings including from the Miniature Painters, Sculptors, and Gravers Society of Washington, DC, the Trekell Pet Portrait Competition, and the Schuler Schools annual Fur to Feathers Show.
She has also been recognized as a finalist and semi-finalist by the Art Renewal Center, USA and the Almenara Art Prize, Spain, and most recently earned the Cheltenham Arts Council Visual Arts Cup Award, Cheltenham, UK.
Karen happily takes commissions of people and pets.
